Company description:: NetSAP-DC Announced Charities for April 17th Charity Ball
Washington DC - April 6, 2004 – The Washington DC Chapter of the Network of South Asian Professionals (NetSAP-DC) announced on April 1st that the proceeds from its annual Charity Ball will this year go to benefit three charities supporting South Asian causes—ASHA, the UN Foundation, and Pratham.
NetSAP’s Charity Ball 2004: FIRE & ICE will be held on Saturday, April 17th from 7 p.m. – 2 a.m. at the Hilton Washington. This elegant affair will bring together Washington’s young professional South Asian community for a night of class and excitement. The night will start off with a Vegas-style mock casino where attendees can see if Lady Luck is on their side. Simultaneously, various items and services donated by generous Washington Metro area individuals and businesses, will be on display in the Silent Auction area. Ball attendees will be able to bid on an impressive group of items which include a basketball signed by a local and national sports hero, tickets to a Bollywood Concert featuring well known Indian screen actors and actresses, and a weekend spa package at one the most elegant day spas in the area.
The highlight of the evening will be a Live Date Auction, featuring some of DC’s most eligible bachelors and bachelorettes. From trips to Manhattan, Disney World, and Atlantic City, to hot air balloon rides, hang gliding lessons, and sailing lessons, attendees will have a chance to bid on some very creative and adventurous evenings that these ladies and gentlemen have planned.
The beneficiaries of this enchanting event will be ASHA, a DC-area organization dedicated to helping South Asian women who have been victims of domestic abuse; the UN Foundation, an international charity dedicated to improving children’s health, empowering women, preventing the HIV virus, and preserving the environment in India; and Pratham, a grass roots charity initiated by UNICEF in 1994 that promotes the education of underprivileged children in India. This year, the UN Foundation has agreed to match NetSAP-DC’s contribution to its group of charities dollar-for-dollar.
“It’s always great when you can bring people together in support of great and deserving causes, and have a little fun in the process. It has been a lot of hard work putting this event together, but we are proud of the type of work these charities do and are honored to be associated with them,” said Pratik Mittal, Co-Chair, NetSAP-DC’s Charity Ball 2004.
“Sometimes we forget about the struggles and hardships encountered by the majority of people back home. Its causes like these that put everything into perspective and make all of our efforts worthwhile,” added Mihir Shah, Co-Chair, Charity Ball 2004.
